Our Faith
|
GOD
|
There is one God in three
persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
God is the creator and preserver of all that is,
seen and unseen
|
JESUS
|
Jesus Christ is the only and
eternal Son of God, begotten before all ages.
He was born as a human being, the son of the virgin
Mary.
His one oblation of himself, once offered, on the
Cross was the perfect satisfaction
for the sins of the whole world.
He rose from the dead on the third day and reigns
with the Father in heaven.
Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life;
and no one comes to the Father except through him.
|
THE BIBLE
|
The Holy Scriptures of the Old
and New Testaments are the Word of God.
The Holy Scriptures contain all things necessary for
salvation.
|
THE CHURCH
|
The Church is the mystical Body
of Christ and the blessed company of all faithful
people.
Christ is the head of his Body, the Church, and all
baptized people are its limbs and organs.
The marks of the Church are that she is one, holy,
catholic, and apostolic.
|
MINISTRY
|
God has provided for his Church
a ministry in unbroken succession from the Apostles.
The ordained ministry is threefold, comprising
bishops, priests, and deacons.
Although, in keeping with Apostolic tradition, the
ordained ministry is open only to baptized persons,
there are many other forms of ministry open to
layfolk, both women and men.
|
SACRAMENTS
|
The Sacraments are provided by
God as effectual channels of his grace.
In Baptism our sins, both original and actual are
washed away, and we are born again
as members of Christ's body and citizens of his
Kingdom.
In the Eucharist we eat and drink the very Body and
Blood of Jesus Christ,
according to his most true promise.
In addition to Baptism and the Eucharist there are
five other ordinances commonly
called Sacraments, namely Confirmation, Holy Orders,
Matrimony, Confession, and
Unction of the Sick. |
LIFE
|
Human life is the gift of God,
made in his image, and is therefore to be respected.
The killing of unborn human beings (commonly called
"abortion") is prohibited.
The killing of the aged and infirm (commonalty
called "euthanasia") is condemned.
The use of human embryos for experimentation is
unacceptable.
|
MORALITY
|
It becomes Christian to
live as citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven.
The greatest commandment is to love God with all
one's heart, soul, mind, and strength;
and the second is to love one's neighbor as oneself.
Christians live by the Golden Rule: to do to others
as they would have others do to them.
Sexual love is expressed monogamous, heterosexual
marriage.
The material goods of this world are to be used for
the advancement of the Kingdom;
they are not to be coveted or hoarded, but to be
shared with those in need. |
